Treatment of acne

Apply twice a day, in the morning and evening.

Because excessive dryness of the skin may occur, start with once a day. If dryness or peeling of the skin occurs, the frequency of application may be reduced to once every two days.

1. Do not use in the following patients (or on the following sites).

1) Patients with hypersensitivity to this medicine or a history thereof

2) Patients with diabetes

3) Patients with impaired blood circulation

4) Around the eyes and on mucous membranes

5) Sites with infection, inflammation, redness (reddening from congestion) or irritation

2. The following persons should consult a doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.

1) Patients with a history of allergic symptoms caused by medicines, cosmetics, etc. (for example rash, redness (reddening from congestion), itching, dermatitis caused by lacquer (urushiol), etc.)

2) Patients with hepatic or renal impairment (large amounts of salicylate absorbed through the skin cause poisoning, so in patients with hepatic or renal impairment do not apply it to wide areas of skin for long periods.)

3) This medicine contains propylene glycol; administer it with caution to patients who are hypersensitive to this ingredient or have a history of allergy.

3. In the following cases, stop using this medicine immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. When consulting, bring this package insert with you if possible.

1) Rash, redness (reddening from congestion), erythema (red spots) and itching may occur; if these symptoms occur, stop administration.

2) Dermatitis and skin ulcers may occur with continued use (repeated use) of large amounts over long periods; if these symptoms occur, stop administration.

3) Local irritation reactions may occur if this medicine comes into contact with normal skin; if such reactions occur, stop administration.

4) If the symptoms do not improve after several uses, stop using it and consult a pharmacist or doctor.

5) When salicylic acid products are given to children and adolescents with chickenpox or influenza, the possibility of Reye's syndrome must be considered.

4. Other precautions when using this medicine

1) This medicine is for external use only; follow the prescribed dosage and administration carefully.

2) In cases of purulent (pus-forming) dermatitis, weeping (moist skin) or erosion (raw, sore skin), treat these first and then apply this medicine.

3) Side effects are more likely when it is applied to widespread lesions (affected areas), so use it with caution.

4) Take care not to let it touch skin other than the affected area.

5) Apply it taking care not to let it come into contact with the eyes, nose, mouth or other mucous membranes. If it gets into the eyes by mistake, rinse them thoroughly with plenty of water and then follow a doctor's instructions.

6) If this medicine is swallowed by mistake, consult a doctor or pharmacist.

7) Use in pregnant and breastfeeding women

a) Teratogenicity has been reported in animal studies with oral administration of this medicine; therefore, administer it to pregnant women or women who may be pregnant only if the therapeutic benefit is judged to outweigh the risk.

b) It has been reported that this medicine passes into breast milk, but its effect on the infant (nursing baby) is not known.

c) When it is administered to breastfeeding women, do not apply it to the breast area.

8) Use in children

a) When it is given to children, use it under the guidance and supervision of a parent or guardian.

b) Children are more prone to side effects, so do not apply large amounts to wide areas or use it for long periods.

5. Storage precautions

1) Keep out of the reach of children.

2) Avoid direct sunlight and store in as cool a place as possible.

3) Taking the medicine out of its original container and storing it in another container may cause accidents through misuse or reduce its quality, so keep it in its original container, tightly closed.

4) Do not keep it near fire.

5) When it is not in use, keep the cap tightly closed.
